UssonLocated on the outskirts of the national park of Livradois-Forez, Usson is at the top of a volcanic hill, where once a fortress stood. The village offers a magnificent view on the mount of Puys, Dore and Cézallier. The castle of Usson was the place where Queen Marguerite de Valois was held as a semi-prisoner for 19 years, for betraying her husband Henri IV. She was only allowed to return to Paris at the age of 52. Some religious buildings were built in her honour.
